London, 14 June 2019: Online pension provider PensionBee, wins the award for ‘Diversity and Inclusion Champion’ at the Computing Tech Marketing & Innovation Awards.
On Friday afternoon PensionBee was named ‘Diversity and Inclusion Champion’ at the Computing Tech Marketing & Innovation Awards 2019. The online pension provider was recognised for its commitment to championing diversity and representation in the pensions industry, and its efforts to encourage young people to explore a career in pensions.
Romi Savova, CEO at PensionBee commented: “We’re delighted to be recognised for our work campaigning for diversity and representation in the pensions industry. This is a subject that’s close to my heart, and this award is a credit to our wonderful and diverse team who are forever fighting for financial inclusion and the rights of all pension savers.”
In addition to its work campaigning for better standards in the pensions industry, PensionBee’s winning award entry also highlighted the success of ‘The Program’ – a two-year development program designed for its Customer Success Team. The initiative aims to encourage people, who may not usually do so, to enter the pensions industry.
Emily Tribe, Head of Talent at PensionBee commented: “We want to challenge the perceptions of what people in pensions should be, and breakdown some of the barriers that people often face. You don’t need previous experience to enter The Program, and we’ve specifically advertised on jobs boards aimed at those starting their careers without attending university. We’ve designed a hiring process that highlights individuals who have a passion for our mission and company values, and also the potential to grow.”
77% of the pension provider’s Junior Management Team started in The Program, and now work across the business in marketing, operations, tech, product, talent and corporate development.
Romi Savova, CEO at PensionBee commented: “Since starting The Program I’m proud to announce that we’ve achieved complete gender parity, and around 40% BME representation at PensionBee. As these figures demonstrate, The Program has been a huge success and we encourage other companies in the pensions industry to embrace diversity in their workforces.”
This award win follows PensionBee receiving a commendation in the ‘DC Innovation of the Year’ category at the UK Pensions Awards in May. It has been shortlisted for three accolades at the upcoming Investment Marketing and Innovation Awards, including the awards for ‘Open Innovation’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’. The online pension provider is up against Twitter for the accolade of ‘Tech Company of the Year’ at the Evening Standard Business Awards, and PensionBee CEO Romi Savova has been nominated in six categories at the Women in Pensions Awards, including ‘Pensions Woman of the Year’.
