We continue to revolutionise the retirement industry through innovative technology, product leadership and excellent customer service in the UK and the US. Our customer proposition allows customers to combine, contribute and withdraw online and to take control of their retirement.

Combine retirement accounts online

We enable our customers to combine their old retirement accounts and transfer them into a brand new PensionBee plan in a few easy steps.

Once their accounts are consolidated, they can easily manage their new account online and track their balance in real time via our website or app.

Contribute at a click

We’ve made it incredibly easy for customers to contribute into their retirement account and grow their savings for a happy retirement.

Whether it’s a single or regular contribution, customers can complete the process with a simple bank transfer in under 60 seconds. Self-employed customers can also open a new retirement account without needing to transfer any existing accounts.

Withdraw with ease

For our customers nearing retirement, we’ve streamlined the process, allowing them to easily withdraw funds with just a few clicks.

We enable retirees to set up regular payments, creating a salary throughout retirement. Alongside our Retirement Planner, we’ve developed innovative tools to give customers peace of mind, knowing they can plan effectively for their future.

Our history

2025

We launched the Climate Plan in the UK and a Safe Harbour IRA partnership in the US

Our first global brand campaign ‘When your pension’s in a good place, you’re in a good place’ launched with six adverts featuring our customers.

In the UK, we launched our Climate Plan based on customer’s feedback helping savers invest in companies actively reducing their carbon emissions.

In the US, we’re broadening our product offering to respond to customer needs, through the introduction of Roth and Safe Harbor IRAs. We recently announced a partnership with SS&C Technologies to introduce a new Safe Harbor IRA designed to offer former employees a good home for their retirement savings. Through its Automated Rollover Program (used by 120,000 plans), SS&C streamlines and automates the process of mandatory rollovers for plan sponsors.

We have more than 265k Invested Customers and £6bn in Assets under Administration.

2024

We expanded to the US and achieved Group Adjusted EBITDA Breakeven

We launched in the United States, in collaboration with our long-standing partner State Street Global Advisors, taking an important step in creating a global leader in the consumer retirement market.

We achieved Adjusted EBITDA* breakeven for the Group, supported by Adjusted EBITDA profitability for our UK business. We raised £20m of new capital to accelerate the growth of our US business.

As a 200-strong team across the UK and US, we celebrated 10 years of PensionBee and many milestones along the way of innovation, growth and impact in the pensions industry.

We ended 2024 with 265k Invested Customers and £5.8bn in Assets under Administration.

2023

We achieved Adjusted EBITDA Profitability and joined the FTSE

We achieved Adjusted EBITDA* profitability in the fourth quarter of the year, paving the way for the Company to achieve full year profitability for 2024.

Having joined the Premium Segment of the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market, we joined the FTSE All Share and the FTSE4Good indices, which supported a broader ownership of the Company’s shares.

We ended 2023 with 229k Invested Customers and £4.4bn in Assets under Administration.

2022

We exceeded £3bn in AUA and became a Premium listed company

We transitioned to the Premium Segment of the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market showing our commitment to corporate governance, our growth ambitions and to increasing liquidity.

Lara Oyesanya joined our Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Our ‘Believe in the Bee’ brand campaign launched with an ad featuring Brentford Football Club players and a cameo from our CEO, Romi – plus our distinctive new animated honey bee.

PensionBee won a further 20 awards including five Boring Money Best Buy Awards, ‘Fintech of the Year’ (UK FinTech Awards), and were accredited with Good With Money’s ‘Good Egg’ mark.

We ended 2023 with 183k Invested Customers and £3bn in Assets under Administration.

2021

We became a publicly listed company

We became a publicly listed company with an Initial Public Offering on the High Growth Segment of the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange, also giving our customers access to buy shares.

The £55m of new capital raised allowed us to fuel further expansion and innovation, so that we could help even more people look forward to a happy retirement.

For our inclusive and accessible website design, PensionBee was awarded the Internet Crystal Mark and Plain English App Mark.

We ended 2021 with 117k Invested Customers and £2.6bn in Assets under Administration.

2020

We exceeded £1bn in AUA and launched the Fossil Fuel Free Plan

We campaigned to show the rest of the pensions industry that there was demand for a fossil fuel free pension, based on customers’ feedback. We succeeded with commitments of >£100m and launched the Fossil Fuel Free Plan.

We were named ‘Pension Provider of the Year’ (UK Pensions Awards), and won praise for innovation, customer service and diversity.

Mary Francis CBE joined our Board as our Senior Independent Director.

We ended 2020 with 69k Invested Customers and £1.4bn in Assets under Administration.

2019

We received industry acclaim

We became the first pension provider to adopt the Simpler Annual Benefit Statement, winning acclaim from both the government and pensions industry.

We introduced two new pension plans, 4Plus and Preserve, to broaden our appeal amongst customers nearing retirement, as well as a Shariah-compliant plan.

We won a total of seven awards and our team grew to over 100 employees.

Michelle Cracknell CBE also joined the PensionBee Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

We ended 2019 with 38k Invested Customers and £745m in Assets under Administration.

2018

The app was launched

Our app went live, giving customers the power to manage their pensions from their smartphones.

With the introduction of Open Banking, we also became the first pension provider to integrate with a number of banking and money management apps.

We ended 2018 with 17k Invested Customers and £328m in Assets under Administration.

2017

Innovation and investment

We broadened our mix of customers with new product innovations and introduced our drawdown service, enabling customers to make withdrawals easily online.

We also launched our first socially responsible plan, providing our savers with a climate conscious way of investing.

We ended 2017 with 5k Invested Customers and £108m in Assets under Administration.

2016

PensionBee went live

We launched our product with plans from BlackRock and State Street Global Advisors, helping savers combine their old pensions.

Mark Wood CBE, former Chief Executive of Prudential UK, joined as our Chair.

We ended 2016 with around 1k Invested Customers and £19m in Assets under Administration.

2015

Work began

Romi and Co-Founder and CTO, Jonathan Lister-Parsons both quit their jobs and started building PensionBee - an online pension provider that put customers at its heart.

Our first employees joined the Company, we moved into our first office and the team began working on the BeeHive and creating the PensionBee brand.

Romi was our first customer, transferring her own pension to the newly founded PensionBee.

2014

PensionBee was born

Our story began when our CEO, Romi Savova, tried to move her old workplace pension. She faced great difficulty in switching pension providers using traditional platforms and financial advisers, encountering archaic systems, excessive fees, and complex paperwork.

After this experience, she decided there had to be a better way and started working on creating PensionBee.
